For at least three months, 14,000 young men and women have been practicing for a celebration of the Draper and Oquirrh Mountain Temples. At least twice a week there have been practices, sometimes quite late on school nights leaving homework unfinished. Last night our family was able to attend the first night of the celebration. We had to park almost at The Gateway and walk. By the time we got into the conference center, Lauren had a blister on her foot. Ben was bored halfway through and very sleepy. It didn't start until 8:00 p.m. I ended up crying at several different parts. The spirit was so strong and present last night. It was incredible to see thousands of youth waiting to perform and all of the work that went into it. The Prophet spoke and told the youth that they would be blessed over and over for all of their efforts.I truly believe that. It just happened to be President Eyring's birthday, so the entire conference center sang happy birthday to him, which brought a lot of tears.
The outfits the girls had to make and wear were fairly ugly, but they didn't care. I am so proud of Olivia and her eagerness to be a part of such an amazing celebration. It will be something that she will never forget.
